Tonya Watson, O.D. Dr. Watson received her optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry in Boston. During school, she was invited to join both the Clinical Scholars Program and the Research Honors Program. She was a Beider Scholar and graduated with both academic and clinical distinction.
After optometry school, Dr. Watson completed a residency in pediatrics and primary care at the UC Berkeley School of Optometry. During her residency, Dr. Watson became involved with the Vision In Preschoolers clinical research project. The focus of this project was to determine which vision screening technique was better at catching eye disorders in preschoolers.
Dr. Watson recently received a Ph.D. in Vision Science from UC Berkeley. For her dissertation, she worked on several projects to better understand the condition of cortical visual impairment. In this condition, children are visually impaired due to brain damage. In addition to Albany Berkeley Optometry, Dr. Watson also works at UC Berkeley researching neurological recovery in children with brain injury. It is challenging work, but she finds it very rewarding.
During her time off, Dr. Watson enjoys traveling, laughing with friends and staying active. She cherishes her friends and family and loves to spend time with them. Her two dogs, Max and Mr. Utley, are very dear to her. They make her laugh every day.
Dr. Watson would like to thank you for choosing Albany Berkeley Optometry. She looks forward to meeting you and providing you with the best eye care possible.

Maria "Trixie" Buenaflor, Optician "I'm interested in anything that is exciting and pleasurable. I'm not afraid to indulge myself - I live by my own set of rules and don't allow myself to get hung up on what others think. For the most part, I'm independent and do whatever I please to do. Trying to stop me from doing something only makes me want it even more. At the end of the day - I live for life's most thrilling moments."
Trixie shows the same passion in her work as she does with mountain climbing. She recently made it to the top of Mt. Shasta and Mt. Ararat in Turkey before that!
